Veterans Memorial Celebration

There are many projects that have received funds through Southern’s Operation ROUND UP program, but there are a select few that go really deep and touch our hearts.

On Saturday, November 3rd, we celebrated one of those very special projects in Cairo.

Ground was broken for the Cairo Community Foundation’s effort to construct a memorial park to honor the service and sacrifices made by veterans of the armed forces. Southern Power District was pleased to present the funds for the $2,500 grant received for the project. But by far, the best part of this great day was a large room filled with people who came out to also witness a pinning ceremony for veterans who have served our country, as well as the recognition for those currently serving in the armed forces.

To all who serve our country today, and those who have served in the past, the words THANK YOU are truly not enough.

To the members and volunteers of the Cairo Community Foundation, we thank you for keeping our Veterans at the front of your vision for the community of Cairo.

We extend a thank you as well to customers participating in the ROUND UP Program for making this grant possible.
