Q: What is the Operation Round Up Program?
A: Operation ROUND UP is a program that allows you to round up your monthly bill to the nearest whole dollar. The resulting donations are then placed into a trust fund and administered to community-based projects that meet some basic criteria.
Q: What is the purpose of the ROUND UP Program?
A: This program provides a "boost" to local projects that can improve the lives of our customers. We know that the village scattered throughout our seven county region are hubs of activity not just for residents of communities, but for our rural customers as well. This is a simply way we can all pitch in and make the good life in rural Nebraska even better.
Q: Am I required to participate?
A: Your participation is not mandatory, but we sure hope you will consider being a part of the effort! Contact our Customer Services Department to update your particpation status: 308-384-2350.
There are a number of very worthwhile projects in communities we serve and the more funds we have to disperse to projects, the more improvements we can see for our communities.
Q: How much will I contribute if I participate?
A: Your contribution will depend upon the total for your monthly bill. If a bill totals $99.99, your donation that month will be one cent. If your bill totals $99.01, your donation that month will be 99 cents. On average, your overall donation for each account you register will be about $6.00. Also, if you choose, we will gladly accept additional donations for the fund.
Q: I have more than one account. Will all of my accounts be rounded up?
A: That is up to you! You can designate your primary residential account to be rounded up alone. You may also choose to round up your irrigation accounts. The number of "ROUND UPS" you keep is completely up to you. If you would like to opt out some, but not all of your accounts, contact our Customer Services Department at 800-579-3019.
Q: Who is responsible for choosing where funds are distributed?
A: An independent board of directors will be responsible for the distribution of funds, as well as determining that projects meet the criteria for Operation ROUND UP funds. One representative will be appointed from each of the seven counties served by Southern Power District.
Q: What type of projects will be considered for Operation ROUND UP funds?
A: Just a few possibilities, to give you an idea, include:park equipment, school club activities, volunteer fire department equipment, and books for libraries. We can't wait to see the many ways that Operation ROUND UP can benefit our local communities.
